The sacroiliac joint is located between the tailbone and the pelvis. Abnormal motion in this joint can cause lower back pain, leg pain and numbness and groin pain. Most patients with sacroiliac joint pain can manage with stretching, wearing a belt, and anti-inflammatories. Cortisone injections, prolotherapy and radiofrequency ablation procedures can temporarily relieve more severe pain. Sacroiliac joint fusion is an option for patients with severe pain that have failed other treatments.
Dr. Mendelsohn performs sacroiliac joint fusions in carefully selected patients.
